I am so excited to be organising a Pirate Party this week for a party of six year olds. We have found the most incredible pirate decorations to create a real galleon effect in our birthday-boy’s backyard!
Our plans include:
* Jolly Roger invitations, sent with treasure maps to all the guests to get them in the mood from the very beginning! All guests were asked to dress in their best pirate costumes,
* A huge Jolly Roger flag hung at the front of the house to welcome guests, with tiki torches pointing the way to the backyard, signs dotted along the pathway with messages such as Beware-Pirates , Enter at ye own risk , and No Landlubbers Allowed.
* When our guests do enter the back-yard, they will be greeted with a giant pirate ship which we have fashioned out of ply-wood and painted by hand,
* Jolly Roger bunting and lanterns hanging in all the trees in the backyard and tiki torches lit around the backyard to create a real sense of being on a treasure hunt,
* Pirate treasure chests, filled with fake pearls, jewels and of course great candy laid out on the food and activity tables around the back-yard,
* The Ghostly Galleon Ship cake from The Australian Women’s Weekly Kids Party Cakes book,
* Games including a pirate treasure hunt for gold coin chocolates, a “walking the plank” game using a small see-saw, and a pirate pinata,
* Loot will include a treasure chest each, filled with black-and-white candy as well as these absolutely cool Pirate Plasters we found recently!
I can’t wait to tell you how it all goes!
Happy celebrating!
Kathryn
