Congratulations to Nicole Kidman and Keith Urban on their pregnancy! How wonderful for them both after the tumoil of the past to celebrate something so positive and special.
I wonder what Nicole Kidman’s baby shower will be like? Nic, if you’re after an event planner, Pink Frosting could really help here! Here are some of my ideas… feel free to chip in!
* It has to be a family affair in Sydney. No question about it. So, it should be outdoors, overlooking Sydney Harbour, in the late afternoon with about 20-30 family and friends… and fellas, sorry, but this one is female only. I know the all-included baby shower is now hot, hot, hot, but Nic is a stickler for tradition.
* I’m definitely recommending an old-fashioned tea party for Nic and her friends. So, the garden area is dressed in a vintage-inspired theme with old-world lace tablecloths, mismatched crockery, polished silver teaspoons and lots of beautifully decorated cupcakes. I’m even seeing little angels hanging from the trees and dancing in the breeze.
* Nic will have gorgeous little tea party favours for her guests… maybe even the unique Kate Aspen ones from Pink Frosting!
* The games for the party are girly and fun! Nic and her mates definitely need to play these silly but very fun games (and while Nic can’t drink, the others can have a champagne to lighten the spirits even more):
Don’t say “BABY”:
Each guest receives a clothes pin or a dummy as they arrive and explain to the guests only once: If you catch someone saying the word ‘baby’ you get to take their clothes pin or dummy. The one with the most pins or dummies at the end of the shower wins.
The Price is Right:
Just like TV, purchase several baby items and keep the receipt. Have the items out for the guests to see, and have them write down what the price of each item. The one closest without going over to the actual price wins.
Baby Food Guess:
Purchase 6-10 jars of baby food, remove the wrappers and number then number the jars. Have the guests try to guess the food.
Photo Game:
Collect a baby photo from each guest and one of the mother, display them and have the guests try and pick which photo is the mother when she was a baby.
Measure Mummy:
Pass out yarn, string, or toilet paper and have the guests take off the amount they think will fit around a part of mummy’s body. (Everyone will think it is going to be her tummy, but instead use her head, neck, or ankle!)
Put-Dummy-in-Baby’s-Mouth:…just like “Pin-The-Tail-On-Donkey” rules, except make printouts or draw little dummies, number them for as many guests there are, make printout of a baby and hang it on the wall. Use a scarf to blindfold your guests, who will try and put the dummy into the baby’s mouth.
* And finally, what do you give the couple who can literally afford anything their hearts desire for their new bub? Try anything from Baby’s Got Style, a personalised Christmas ornament for the family tree, or simply loads of love and support from all of their family and friends at this special time.
Happy Celebrating!
Kathryn
