There are some amazing new ideas for decorating your outdoor wedding aisle emerging. I have always been a fan of fresh flowers to decorate your aisle; but this can mean so many things! Kissing balls, hanging baskets, petals scattered that complement your theme, long palm fronds placed just so. Contemporary outdoor and beach weddings can also be decorated with high glamour paper parasols in a rainbow of colours, dramatic and cost effective with a real wow factor. And wedding luminary candles, paper lanterns and candle bags are the perfect solution when you want to “create” an aisle where there isn’t one, without breaking the bank. Here are some gorgeous recent images of wedding aisles in an outdoor setting to help inspire your own wedding aisle style.

The kissing ball is a gorgeous aisle decoration and can be used throughout your wedding day to decorate your aisle, reception, “getaway car” and table settings. They are best made by a florist with an experienced hand, but you can give them a try yourself using a foam florists ball, wiring each flower head and carefully piercing the foam with the wire from each blossom to create a ball of flowers. Hang with a ribbon wired into place, and you can also have a decorative ribbon at the base of each ball to set off the effect. Hang along your aisle either from the chair tops or, as in our example, from decorative posts which can be found at hardware stores and discount department stores such as Target.

Glorious parasols solve so many decorating dilemmas for your wedding day! Here’s a simple idea. We’ve taken hot pink parasols and placed them down the aisle with complementary rose petals. The effect is contemporary, easy and fun for a summer or beach wedding aisle. Parasols are cost effective – these ones are just $19.95 from Pink Frosting – and practical too as your guests can pick them up and use them to protect their skin from the burning sun.

Beach aisles are great fun, but require some planning as you are probably “creating” an aisle from scratch. We’ve taken a natural hession aisle running and bordered it with some natural coral to create an aisle. From there, our florist has created some stands of potted tropical flowers accessorised with organza ribbon, which ties in perfectly with the chair detailing. Finally, natural palm fronds have been placed in the centre of the pots, left to hang to the side in the breeze, which creates almost a feather effect. This aisle is one of my favourites.

Australian wedding planning company, A Lavish Affair, created this simple look with tulle draped over dark timber seats, pinned together with a simple pink rose. This pretty look is romantic and easy to achieve for an afternoon garden wedding.

Finally, use your imagination to create a fun aisle style! A Lavish Affair has used peacock feathers tied to the aisle side chairs in this garden wedding setting. You could create a similar look with palm fronds, long lilies, or long-handled pin wheels, which you can easily make yourself in papers from your wedding stationery suite.

Happy Celebrating!
