Whether as a guest favor or instead of a bouquet for the wedding party, the wedding hand fan is taking weddings by storm! On the beach, in the garden, at a cocktail soiree. When the weather is sunny, the air is humid and your guests are “glowing” (aka perspiring in the most ladylike manner), give each of your guests a beautiful hand fan complementing your wedding theme and you have saved the day as well as creating true style!
Wedding hand fans come in so many different styles, shapes, colours, fabrics and sizes. Japanese, Chinese and Spanish hand fans are the most popular and generally the most cost effective, which will no doubt be on your mind if you’re purchasing in bulk for wedding favors. Bamboo and paper fans are perfect for a destination or beach wedding and you can make them more colourful by tying a simple ribbon around the handle of them. Vintage and feminine styles come in fabrics, lace and silk either in plain or patterned materials. Ribbons, feathers, pearls and rhinestone scrapbooking embellishments give a plain fan personal style.
Here are some of our favourite styles, both traditional and contemporary:
As a guide, wedding fans cost between $2.95 to $30.00 depending on the style you’re after. Simple paper fans are the most cost effective, with hand painted and embellished fans the most expensive. Pink Frosting has a huge range of wedding fans, and Martha Stewart has some great templates if you’re planning to DIY.
Happy Celebrating!

Hi Kathryn
Thanks for your great hints and tips! We are looking at hand fans for our outdoor ceremony and I was wondering where you can purchase handfans with the name and date printed onto the outside edges (like the pink one above). I have my eye on a few colours from the pink frosting website, but unsure how to put the details on them.
Thanks for your help in advance.
