Melbourne Cup means bubbles, frocks, elegant hats and a day of frittering away our hard earned cash on the race. It is also a day when bosses relax and everyone has the chance to celebrate together in offices around Australia (well, except in Canberra where we have a public holiday – don’t get me started on how stupid this is).
If you’re the one organising Melbourne Cup in your office today, make sure the bubbly is chilled, you have plenty of chicken and white bap rolls, and the sweeps have been completed well before race time.
I’m personally not a fan of horse racing, but it is the one time during the year when even people with no interest in racing can get all heated up about fillies running around a grass track. Oh, and really, the excuse to frock up, wear a fascinator and carry a beautiful parasol, is appreciated!
Happy Celebrating! I wish you luck today!
Kathryn
