February 13th, 2009.

You couldn’t possibly not know that tomorrow is Valentine’s Day!  The shops are overflowing with cuddly red teddy bears, florists are positively bursting at the seams with blood-red roses and we’re all feeling a little more heartened (particularly given the sad last week that we’ve had in Australia).

To celebrate Valentine’s Day this year, we’ll be having a picnic with some friends.  The weather in Canberra is going to be cool and dry, which the perfect weather to sit outdoors and enjoy some relaxation, love and bubbles!

We’re taking advantage of the beautiful summer fruit which is still in season – strawberries, big juice apples and watermelon chunks – and we’ll serve fresh red-hued juices for the kids and champagne-punch for the big kids.  Loads of lanterns, red and white decorations, fun checked linen and fully blown peonies will be the order of the day!

Here is a beautiful red and white summer picnic board I discovered at Snippet and Ink.  It’s all the inspiration I need.  This is a gorgeous theme for bridal showers, baby showers, Mother’s Day and tea parties with friends.

Happy Valentine’s Day and Happy Celebrating!

Kathryn

Just gorgeous. Now I want to spend Valentine’s Day picnicing too. We’re under a foot of snow, so it’s just not likely!
