White Feather Table Settings

My best friend is being married next August in Tasmania (brrrr) and I’ve been scouting around for gorgeous winter inspired table decorations to make her wedding reception truly special. On a recent trip to Texas, I spent some time with an amazing wedding decorator, Daryl Murchison, and he had these beautiful white feather table settings on display for a client. I think we might have found the inspiration we need for our Tasmanian reception!

This table setting with feathers, white lillies, pearls, crystal beading and glass tableware is perfect for a winter wedding, a white wedding with a twist, or a glamorous Christmas party.

Beautiful Baby Shower Favours

One of the times in your life that you just need to celebrate in the silliest, girliest and most fabulous way possible is with your baby shower. Whether it’s your first, second or eighth child, when the delivery room is pending, you need a chance to revel in the warmth and security of your friend’s love and enjoy every last precious moment of peace before your bundle of joy arrives!

In March I shared some great Baby Shower ideas. Since this time, I’ve been inundated by requests from Australian mums-to-be wanting to organise a special baby shower but unable to find great decorations and favours for their event.

I travelled to the US recently looking for new items to bring back to Australia. While I was there, I was lucky enough to stumble upon the beautiful Kate Aspen range of favours which has taken the US by storm. American Girl Place

The hottest place to go if you are a young girl in the US is the phenomenon known as the American Girl Place. These megaplaces present every option a tween girl could ever want to experience all in the one place. There are Broadway shows presented in the prettiest theatres you are ever likely to see, hair salons for dolls, cafes for dining (with or without your doll), a photo studio where you can have your portrait taken with gorgeous glam dress-ups, party options and of course, plenty of shopping!

The American Girl Place has become a phenomenon. It has captured the imagination of girls the nation over and captured mine as well on my visit to the LA AGP. One of the loveliest outcomes of the AGP is the mother and daughter bonding experience it is creating. A visit to AGP is not only for elaborate princess parties and a weekend girlfriend brunch for tweens, it is also the opportunity for mum’s and daughters to experience some bonding magic together in a special place.

Inspirations from a Famous LA Florist

I was lucky enough to visit a famous LA floral design studio yesterday as part of a retail design tour I attended. FloralArtLA really does bring an inventive twist to floral design. It’s so easy for a florist to go overboard with their shopfit and displays, but FloralArt was able to combine colour, shape, texture and signature containers to create a truly modern and focused environment.

FloralArt says their studio’s work is based on a philosophy that emphasises the relationship between floral arrangements and the space for which they are designed. While keeping this philosophy in mind, the studio works carefully to accomplish each client’s desired vision, whether it’s traditional, modern, or eclectic.

FloralArt’s signature look is vintage inspired with a modern twist and is showcased within an artfully designed, light-filled studio and retail space that reflects this aesthetic.

Rebecca Romijn Wedding Photo Released

They Do!

After three years of dating, Rebecca Romijn and Jerry O’Connell exchanged vows during a romantic outdoor wedding at a private home in Los Angeles last weekend and the photos of the event have now been released through America’s InStyle magazine.

InStyle Reports: “Romijn walked down the aisle in a gown by Ralph Lauren and jewels by Neil Lane as a small group of family and friends—perched on hay bails covered with quilts—looked on. After the ceremony—planned by Heidi Asimus of Red25 events—guests dined on blue crab salad and lavender-grilled prime beef tenderloin at rustic tables adorned with wildflowers and lanterns. Instead of the traditional cake, the sweet ending included mini country apple and red velvet cupcakes. Romijn and O’Connell began dating in the summer of 2004.”

Congratulations to the lucky couple.

The celebrity wedding season is just hotting up over here in the US. Coming to an altar near you: Katherine Heigl and Josh Kelley, Sacha Baron Cohen and Isla Fisher, Kate Walsh and Alex Young, Ellen Pompeo and Chris Ivery (what is in the water on the Grey’s Anatomy set?), Tobey Maguire and Jennifer Meyer, Usher and Tameka Foster, Salma Hayek and Francois-Henri Pinault, Sarah Chalke and Jamie Afifi.

Can’t wait to read about these fantastic celebrations and see some inspiring photos for our weddings back in Australia and New Zealand.

Christmas Predictions from LA

I visited a huge market with amazing stationery, giftware and decor today in LA. There were halls and halls of Christmas decorations to enchant. It was magnificent.

Earlier this year, I predicted that Christmas and next year would be full of the following themes and I’m delighted to let you know that these themes were represented everywhere in the Christmas and interior design concepts in LA:

* Get ready to warm up this Christmas with amber and all shades of gold. It’s warm, it’s inviting and it’s very very cosy. Think of maple syrup, autumn leaves, and amber stones in a golden nest. Now you have it!

* Peacock teal is still very much in vogue for decorating. Some of the most beautiful decorations we have coming in include beautiful wreaths of peacock plumage bound tightly together to create a jewelled effect. Accent your feathers with deep sapphire and emerald tones.

* The contemporary mix of black, white and silver make it big again this year. The white is stark, the black is shiny and the silver sparkles. Use silver branches or a silver tree for this mix to have its best effect.

* Finally, Christmas isn’t Christmas without a nod to the traditional. I am delighted to see red, green and gold back with a vengeance. Raid your grandmother’s old decoration boxes and create your very own traditional family tree with meaning and true Christmas spirit.

True Texan Style

Oh my goodness, they certainly do things with big, bold style in Texas! I knew immediately that I was in the South as soon as I arrived at the Bridal Extravaganza Show in Houston today. The front of the exhibition hall was littered with gorgeous linens, enormous tall floral towers and rhinestones, rhinestones and more rhinestones. It glittered, glimmered and completely blew me away!

The most exciting exhibit was from a designer called Darryl Murchison Design. Darryl and his team put together some stunning examples of the upcoming styles of the season here in Texas which are:

Peacock and Chocolate

White, Apple Green and Crystal

Lavender, Gold and Pink

Mint Green, Amber and Fuscia

Red, Black and Gold

Gorgeous US Wedding Accessories and Gifts to Look Forward To

As you know, I’ve been beavering away over here in the good ol’ USA, meeting with suppliers and checking out the new items which are on their way to Australia through Pink Frosting. Today I met with our major supplier, Cathy’s Concepts which is an icon in the American wedding industry. Cathy’s Concepts is based in Indianapolis, which is certainly not a tourist mecca, but is a very pretty place in the world. I feel lucky to have had the chance to visit “Indy”… and there hasn’t been a racing car in sight yet!

Cathy’s Concepts is about to launch a new range of gorgeous giftware items which are equally at home as wedding accessories as they would be for a christening or everyday “thank you for being you” gift for your best girlfriend. The beautiful range of spa accessories, tote bags and personalised jewellery is growing each week, with some great new pet accessories on their way to complement the range! I can’t wait to share them with you in the coming months.

On top of this, Cathy’s Concepts recently provided some gorgeous products to Eva Longoria’s wedding planner to help Eva celebrate her day in style with her nine best girlfriends. How lucky are we to have access to that same range of products?

I’m off tomorrow to Houston, Texas to check out their enormous bridal fair this weekend. Can’t wait to let you know what I find! No doubt, it will be big, brassy and bold!

My US Journey

I’m heading off to the US tomorrow to look at the latest and greatest wedding, entertainment and party ware from the good ol’ USA. Firstly, I’ll be visiting Cathy’s Concepts in Indianapolis. Pink Frosting is the proud Australian and New Zealand distributor for this unique range of wedding accessories. Then, I’m flying down to Houston, Texas to attend one of America’s largest bridal fairs. I can’t wait to see the new styles, themes and ideas from this amazing and enormous show! Then, it’s off to LA to the International Gift Fair where I’ll be buying lots of new stock for the Pink Frosting store.

I promise I’ll keep in contact throughout the journey with the ideas and inspirations I find along the way. Watch out USA, Pink Frosting – the icing on the cake for weddings and parties in Australia and New Zealand – is on it’s way!
